An overdrive with a mixture architecture that layers overdrive onto a clean boost. Rather than radically reshaping the signal, it adds the natural, warm sheen of a vintage amp, letting fingering and picking dynamics shape the expression. The drive circuit places diodes in the op amp's negative feedback loop, as in the OD808 and OD9, and a built-in DC/DC converter allows switching between 9V and 18V operation.

An overdrive aimed at the feel of a fine vintage amp. Its architecture layers an overdrive circuit onto a clean boost circuit and responds to delicate touch.
How the mixture architecture works
With the drive level at minimum, the overdrive circuit acts as a -12dB attenuator and the clean boost circuit as a 6dB booster, yielding a flat clean boost. As the drive level increases, overdrive is progressively blended in.
OD808/OD9-style drive circuit
JRC NJM4558D op amps keep the drive low in noise. The drive circuit uses the same topology as the OD808 and OD9, with diodes placed in the op amp's negative feedback loop.
Switchable 9V/18V operation
A switch inside the battery compartment selects the operating voltage. At 18V, unintentional distortion that can occur with high-output guitars such as those with active pickups is reduced. The built-in DC/DC converter regulates the supply, preventing tonal degradation from battery drain or AC fluctuations.
