A tube overdrive housing an ultra-compact, high-reliability vacuum tube in the compact 9-Series enclosure. According to Maxon's own research as of January 2008, it was the world's smallest tube overdrive. With a tube circuit in the preamp stage, it builds a powerful tube overdrive on the OD9's distinctive upper-midrange character. It does not run on batteries and requires the included AC adapter.

A model that pursues the playing feel digital simulation struggles to capture, using an actual vacuum tube circuit. It dedicates the same tube platform as the TBO9 to overdrive.

Internal step-up to 30V
The 9V from the AC adapter is stepped up internally to 30V and fed to the tube and overdrive circuits. The generous dynamic headroom suppresses unintended distortion for a consistently stable sound.
Tube protection and power
A heater inrush current control circuit extends tube life at power-on. The included AC adapter supports 100-240V AC worldwide; the pedal does not run on batteries.
