Maxon
OD820 Overdrive Pro
$199Reference price
A professional-oriented overdrive that preserves the character of the guitar and amp, shaping expression through fingering and picking touch. It is designed for a glossy, natural tone that drives as if it were part of a tube amp, rather than processing the original signal. With DRIVE at zero it becomes completely distortion-free, working as a clean boost that leaves the source sound intact. Bypass is true bypass.
A professional overdrive that sounds like part of the amp
A model built on Maxon's pedal-making experience dating back to 1974. Centered on drive without an artificial processed feel, it covers everything from clean boost to tube-style drive in one unit.
Clean boost
With DRIVE at zero the pedal is completely distortion-free, and raising LEVEL sends a natural signal into the amp without altering the source sound. Even clean tones gain strength and body while the amp's character is preserved.
Tube drive sound
Used as the sole source of drive, it outputs a well-balanced sound from lows to highs while retaining the guitar's nuances. The glossy tone drives as if it were part of a tube amp, and picking dynamics easily shape delicate crunch.
True bypass
When the effect is off, the signal bypasses the circuit entirely, reaching the amp with quality comparable to a direct connection. The design avoids the added noise and thinning associated with electronic switching.
- Clean boost that leaves the source sound intact with DRIVE at zero
- Well-balanced tube drive sound from lows to highs
- True bypass
- Dual power: 9V battery or 9V DC external supply
