VO-1
The VO-1 is a vocoder pedal that adds the expressiveness of the human voice to guitar playing. The vocoder is a technology originally used with synthesizers, applying the character of a voice to a synth sound so that it seems to sing. Connect a microphone and guitar to the VO-1 and, with operation as simple as any compact pedal, you get the sound known as the electric voice, quite literally making the guitar sing.
A vocoder pedal that makes guitars and basses sing
A compact pedal that brings vocoder technology, long used with synthesizers, to guitar and bass. Connect a microphone and your instrument, and it creates the sound known as the electric voice with the same feel as operating an ordinary pedal.
Four modes with distinct characters
VINTAGE produces the standard vocoder sound familiar from many recordings, while ADVANCED delivers a high-resolution sound that clearly reflects even the lyrics. TALK BOX reproduces the vocal effect of a talking modulator without holding a tube in your mouth, and CHOIR automatically adds vocal character even without a microphone connected.
Blending with the instrument sound
In the VINTAGE, ADVANCED, and TALK BOX modes, the BLEND knob mixes in the instrument's natural tone, so the pedal can be used with a feel close to normal playing rather than requiring complete sync between instrument and voice. An effects loop is also provided, letting you combine a crafted guitar or bass tone with the vocoder sound.
