A pedal that brings rotary speaker behavior to your feet
The rotary speaker, introduced in the 1940s, is a mechanism whose physically rotating rotors create distinctive fluctuations in placement, volume, and pitch. The RT-2 reproduces not only the sound but also the tonal changes created by the rotors' acceleration and deceleration in a compact pedal.
Three modes with different characters
Mode I uses modeling technology to faithfully reproduce a vintage rotary speaker, generating warm, three-dimensional movement. Mode II is wider-range and brighter, balancing cut and spread in an ensemble, and also suits pairing with drive pedals. Mode III widens the DRIVE range to reach deep distortion and intense rotation, making solos and arpeggios stand out while keeping their definition.
Rotation speed settings and transitions
Rotation speed is set as FAST and SLOW patterns with the knobs and confirmed visually on the central virtual rotary display. Switching between them with the pedal switch reproduces the tonal changes of rotor acceleration and deceleration, and the transition speed is selected with the rear RISE/FALL TIME switch.
A DRIVE knob with two roles
The DRIVE knob adds distortion inspired by the tube amp saturation built into vintage units. Flipping the rear switch to BALANCE lets the same knob adjust the volume balance between the treble and bass rotors, covering everything from fine adjustment to lo-fi flavor.
Real-time control
The pedal switch behavior can be chosen from four types, assigning effect on/off and speed switching to fit your playing style. Adding an optional footswitch enables independent FAST/SLOW control and a BRAKE function that gradually stops the rotation, and parameter control via an expression pedal is also supported.
