A model that condenses the design philosophy of the GX-100 multi-effects unit into a portable size. It houses three-dimensional amp sounds from BOSS's proprietary AIRD technology and a large set of BOSS effects, with a touch-enabled color display for sound editing. Three footswitches handle a variety of control duties, covering desktop recording and practice through to the stage.
The GX-100's core engine condensed into a portable multi-effects unit
Inheriting the same core engine as the GX-100, it brings AIRD-powered amp sounds and a touch-driven interface into an easily portable enclosure. It runs at a 48kHz sampling rate with 32-bit float internal processing.
AIRD preamps and 170 effects
It carries 32 AIRD preamps, 23 for guitar and 9 for bass, delivering sound and playing feel that reproduce the behavior and interactions of an entire amplifier. The 170 effects range from staples to a slicer and humanizer, with plenty of choices in major categories such as overdrive and delay.
Touch control and 15 effect blocks
Icons are selected and moved directly on the touch-enabled color display, while fine parameters are adjusted with four knobs. The effect chain supports 15 simultaneous blocks including up to two preamps, and also handles serial/parallel switching with a divider, cabinet IR loading, and external pedals via SEND/RETURN.
Three control modes
The three footswitches operate in three modes: UP/DOWN for stepping through memories, MANUAL for individually controlling assigned effects, and BANK/NUMBER for switching memories within a bank. A current-number function, triggered by pressing the selected memory's switch again, calls up any assigned function, letting a single memory move between backing and solo.
Pedal and app integration
The expression pedal can control volume and wah, and can be set to launch the tuner when rolled all the way back. It supports editing in the dedicated BOSS TONE STUDIO app and sharing Livesets on BOSS TONE EXCHANGE, and Livesets created on the GX-100 can also be used.
