LITTLE COPPER CHORUS
$169.99Reference price
A chorus pedal designed by BJF. It reimagines the chorus, which first appeared in 1975 as a built-in amp effect, from a modern perspective. Unlike the many classic choruses built on a triangle wave, it uses a sine wave as its modulation source for a softer voice. It carries a clear, metallic sheen and a dimensional spread.
A modern-design chorus modulated by a sine wave
A pedal built on the idea of reworking the chorus, born in 1975 as a built-in amp effect and made a classic through heavy use in the 1980s, from a modern perspective. The copper in its name reflects the image of a metallic, clear, dimensionally lustrous voice unlike traditional choruses.
Sine wave modulation
Where most classic choruses use a triangle wave as the modulation source, this pedal modulates with a sine wave for a softer voice. It keeps noise low and dynamic range wide, avoiding the squashed feeling characteristic of classic choruses.
A design informed by rotary speakers
The available modulation speeds match the speed range a real rotary speaker could produce. Focusing the midrange with the COLOUR control also brings the tonal thickness of a classic chorus.
Works before or after drive
Placed before distortion it leans toward a rotary speaker sound; placed after, it works as a traditional thickening chorus. Its wide dynamic range handles high-output pickups and bass, and placement in front of drive was part of the design brief.
- Sine wave adopted as the modulation source
- Speed range equal to a rotary speaker
- COLOUR control focuses the mids for thickness
- Placement before or after drive changes its character
- Handles high-output pickups and bass
- Mini machined-aluminum enclosure with room for a battery
