The SY-1 condenses the guitar synthesizer technology BOSS has cultivated over the years into a compact pedal. Despite a size that fits easily on a pedalboard, it carries 121 varied synth sounds. Latency-free operation preserves the expressiveness of your playing, and like any other compact pedal, sounds are shaped entirely with the onboard knobs.
A compact polyphonic guitar synth with no special pickup required
Inheriting the BOSS guitar synth technology established with the SY-300 Guitar Synthesizer, it delivers synth sounds through nothing more than a standard cable connection. Custom DSP provides latency-free processing, so you can play exactly as you normally do.
121 synth sounds
It carries 121 sounds across 11 types with 11 variations each: wide-range leads, soft pads, thick bass synths, strings, organs, metallic bells, SFX sound effects, and rhythmically shifting SEQ. All are polyphonic, working with single notes and chords alike, and can be adjusted instantly with the TONE/RATE and DEPTH knobs.
Routing via SEND/RETURN
In addition to series connection, the SEND/RETURN jacks let you blend the synth sound with other effects. You can place a drive pedal in the loop to mix distortion with the synth, then add ambience effects afterward. The SEND jack also works as a direct out for separate guitar and synth outputs, and a GUITAR/BASS switch optimizes the engine for your instrument.
HOLD and real-time control
Holding down the pedal switch engages HOLD, sustaining the last synth sound so you can layer a solo over a held pad. An external footswitch enables one-octave-up switching and tap tempo, and an expression pedal allows continuous control of TONE/RATE.
