A delay pedal modeled on a 1960s tape echo with a built-in tube preamp. It reproduces the modulation arising from the mechanical inconsistencies of the tape transport, tape saturation, and tuned low-end response. It covers everything from warm slapback to long echo feedback with stereo spread.
The return of the tube-preamp tape echo
A stereo tape echo that starts from the single moving-head dTape algorithm developed for El Capistan and pours in research on the Echoplex EP-2 modded by Cesar Diaz. It covers warm slapback to vast stereo echo feedback in a compact enclosure.
Two tube preamp models
The preamp offers a voice based on the classic EP-2 that lifts the highs, and a warm, balanced voice based on the studied modded unit. It provides up to +6dB of boost, and the preamp can also be bypassed.
A dTape system that recreates even the imperfections
It layers the irregularities of vintage tape echoes, including moving-head effects, tape condition, bias settings, and motor and capstan slippage. The Mechanics control changes the quality of the wow and flutter and can create three-dimensional modulation spreading in stereo.
Record Level and Tape Age
A 3-position record level switch changes the gain into the virtual record head, instantly selecting from clean repeats to deeply saturated ones. Tape Age varies the tape's bandwidth, recreating everything from brand-new full range to the sweet highs of old tape.
