MXR's development team examined the actual unit, unveiled by his family after 42 years, and developed it with the cooperation of his sister Kathy Rhoads. The enclosure's finish recalls the white, pinstriped Flying V-style guitar Randy designed, inspired by a supersonic airliner he saw while on tour. The two controls, DISTORTION and OUTPUT, cover everything from soft drive to raw, fuzz-like tones.

A special-finish version of the tribute model recreating the MXR Distortion+ Randy Rhoads favored. The sound based on examination of the original unit is unchanged, finished instead to evoke another of his beloved guitars.
A design inspired by a supersonic airliner
Inspired by a supersonic airliner he saw while touring with Ozzy Osbourne, Randy designed a Flying V-style guitar with a white finish and added pinstripes. This unit is a special edition recalling that iconic guitar.

MXR's development team examined the actual unit from the pedalboard unveiled by his family after 42 years, developing the pedal with the cooperation of his sister Kathy Rhoads. OUTPUT and DISTORTION knobs control everything from soft drive to raw, fuzz-like tones.
