Vitamin C
A fuzz that splits its gain across five stages built from transistors and FETs, so the highs hold up even with the gain rolled back. It carries a two-band EQ, unusual for a fuzz. Splitting the gain also makes it less sensitive to a buffered pedal placed ahead of it, giving more freedom in where it sits on a board.
A fuzz that splits gain across five stages to fit a modern board
A model aimed at keeping the sound of a vintage fuzz while designing away the traits that made those pedals awkward in a modern rig.
Gain split across five stages
Gain is raised in stages across five elements built from transistors and FETs. With less amplification per stage, the top end survives when the gain is turned down, so the amount of distortion can be chosen without losing the frequency balance of a fuzz.
A two-band EQ, unusual for a fuzz
Where most fuzz pedals are voiced with a single tone knob, this one carries a two-band EQ. The frequency balance can be dialled in while the character of the fuzz remains.
Less sensitive to what sits in front
Vintage fuzz circuits react strongly to whatever is connected ahead of them, which is part of what makes them awkward on a modern board. Splitting the gain across five stages reduces that sensitivity and leaves the signal chain order more open.
