A 12-mode analog delay machine with eight BBDs under CPU control
A delay machine that combines a fully analog delay circuit with CPU control. It keeps the warm, enveloping repeats that come from BBDs while achieving the varied modes and modern features that conventional analog delays struggled to provide.
Sound optimization through selective BBD use
At the same delay time, an analog delay sounds more saturated with fewer BBDs in use and gains more high-end extension with more of them. The DM-101 optimizes the combination of its eight BBDs and surrounding circuitry for each mode, producing 12 characters ranging from the warm, heavily saturated VINTAGE to the crisp, high-end-focused MODERN.
Digital control of analog circuitry
The CPU controls the number of BBDs in use and how they are connected, the filter types, the clock frequency, and the feedback path. Setting INTENSITY beyond a certain point produces self-oscillation while each mode's sound character is preserved.
Stereo expression from an analog signal path
By switching the BBDs between series and parallel connections and feeding the left and right channels different clock signals, it produces stereo sounds such as PAN, which bounces repeats between left and right, and the phase-shifted DUAL MOD. Separate output of the direct and effect sounds and direct muting are supported, so it can also serve as an outboard effect for a PA mixer.
Features for modern performance environments
It supports tap tempo with tap division, carryover, external footswitches, expression pedals, and MIDI control. Four memories can be saved and recalled from the onboard footswitches, and up to 127 via MIDI control.
